Examiner Business Awards 2015 Co-Sponsors
Saturday, August 8, 2015
Leading Huddersfield recruitment firm Stafflex is celebrating 15 years in business – and an outstanding record supporting the local economy and community.
Now it has reinforced its commitment by co-sponsoring the Examiner Business Awards 2015.
The company, based at Chapel Hill and led by founder and managing director Brian Stahelin, can lay claim to be one of the town’s biggest employers in terms of the number of people going through its payroll – providing qualified, skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled personnel to the industrial, commercial and education sectors.
Mr Stahelin, who is also current president of the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, has more than 35 years experience working in the recruitment industry, having served a commercial apprenticeship with the UK HQ of Nestle followed by interim contracts with the BBC, Rowntrees, Costain and Shepherd Construction.
Mr Stahelin is proud that the company does things “the Stafflex way” – which means looking after the interest of both clients and candidates. Its commitment to the education sector is recognised by Recruitment and Employment Confederation accreditation and in addition to meeting firms’ recruitment needs, the company regularly provides work placements for students and is enthusiastic about training.
Stafflex is a big supporter of the Living Wage and is increasingly playing an active part in the drive to realise the vision of the Northern Powerhouse. It is also sponsoring Huddersfield Town for the 11th year this season.
Among its initiatives, Stafflex has joined forces with Kirklees College to provide an innovative new recruitment initiative for 16 to 18-year-olds. KC Works is a joint project that aims to bridge the divide between employers and prospective staff by providing a seamless approach to recruiting college graduates.
Among its other activities, Stafflex teamed up with festival organisation Food Festivals to bring a summer of Big Screen Entertainment to Huddersfield.
St George’s Square played host to a supersize outdoor LED cinema screen featuring films chosen by families from across West Yorkshire. The square also featured a host of food and drink stalls with accompanying seating and gazebos offering family fun and entertainment.
Commenting on the firm’s success, Mr Stahelin said: "We are extremely proud and excited to be headline sponsors of this year's Examiner Business awards along with Chadwick Lawrence. It's a step up from some of our previous sponsorships and marks a time in our business when we are engaging more and more with the larger businesses in the region. It's always a fabulous evening, extremely well organised and entertaining. Our best wishes go out to each and every candidate. They ALL ought to be extremely proud of their achievements."
