Stafflex supports Huddersfield students preparing for World Finals of Land Rover Technology Challenge in Abu Dhabi
Huddersfield based recruitment agency Stafflex have sponsored a team of students from Moor End Academy as they prepare to head off to Abu Dhabi to take part in the World Finals of the Land Rover 4x4 in Schools Technology Challenge.
The students Amaar Farooq, Zain Anjam, Rizwan Ali and Alyan Saleem came together to form Team Robust, taking part and winning the competition’s regional and national championships in March earlier this year.
Abigail Stahelin-Hall, Director at Stafflex said: “We have been involved with Team Robust from the beginning of their journey and it’s been fantastic to see them now in the World Finals. They have shown true dedication to get this far and a genuine passion for engineering. We wish them all the success in December.”
Alyan Saleem at Team Robust said: “This competition has opened many doors for us and has offered a great insight into the professional working environment. I would encourage more schools to take part in the challenge as it really is once in a lifetime opportunity for those involved."
The team created most of the car’s components using 3D computer aided designing (CAD) and are aiming to finish work on the car in the next couple of weeks so that they can switch their focus on to other scoring categories including the verbal presentation, portfolio and pit display.
As well as building the car, the team have attracted other high profile sponsors including global technology provider Ricoh UK, printing experts Minuteman Press Huddersfield and leading security provider Burnley CCTV Solutions.
Team Robust will compete against 26 teams from 17 countries in the World Finals taking place on 10th and 11th December.
