Stafflex Arena to host Bank Holiday Football Match for Lets Save HRI Campaign

Wednesday, August 23, 2017

Stafflex Arena is hosting a unique football match between ladies and men taking place on Bank Holiday Monday 28 August raising funds for the ‘Lets save Huddersfield A&E’ campaign.

The campaign was started by Karl Deitch in January 2016 to fight the potential closure of Huddersfield’s A&E which was announced in as part of hospital shake up plans.

The current HRI hospital building on Acre Street will be demolished, with a smaller hospital built on an adjacent site. The smaller hospital will not have an A&E, and instead patients from across Huddersfield will have to travel to Calderdale Royal Hospital in Halifax for emergency care.

The game which is hoping to attract large numbers of supporters will feature ex England internationals Sammy Britton and Clare Taylor MBE, ex Town players including striker Clyde Wijhard, keeper Matt Glennon as well as normal players from the community.

There will be food and drinks available at the club house. Tickets are priced at £2.50 for adults and £1 for kids and can be purchased here.
