Meet the Stafflex recruitment team

Brian Stahelin

Brian Stahelin (Founder and Managing Director) started the company in 2000 and has over 35 years experience of working within the recruitment industry. Prior to this, Brian served a commercial apprenticeship at the UK HQ of Nestle Ltd followed by interim contracts with the BBC, Rowntrees, Costain and Shepherd Construction.

Paul Balderstone

Paul Balderstone (Director) is a Graduate of Manchester University with a rewarding career in motor and manufacturing industry. Paul established the Stafflex education sector on the back of considerable knowledge of schools gained as a School Governor and currently looks after a number of activities including marketing and finance.

Broadly speaking, at Stafflex, it involves clients telling us precisely what they need. It involves us listening. And then it involves us delivering. But, of course, there’s only one way for you to ascertain that we’re not just all talk!"

Maggie Netherwood

Maggie is the Director of Sales and Customer Service at Stafflex. She has significant experience in developing relationships with clients and maximising new business opportunities as well as the ability to coach and motivate staff with innovative sales techniques.

Maggie is ultimately responsible for the sales performance of the industrial, education and office sectors. She is also involved in mapping out Stafflex’s long term sales and service strategy.”

In her spare time, Maggie supports several charities and is a huge Huddersfield Town and Huddersfield Giants fan.

Abigail Stahelin Hall

Abigail has been at Stafflex since 2011, however has worked at Stafflex on reception and for various clients since Stafflex's launch in 2000. She is currently the Director of Compliance and Training and is a qualified History teacher for secondary schools. Abigail also sits on the governing body for one of the local primary schools.

Katrina Cross

Kat joined Stafflex back in 2005 as a trainee recruiter and has since progressed to be an invaluable member of the Industrial team. Kat is extremely knowledgeable about the specific needs of the industrial sector within the region and has built up a wealth of contacts over her years with us.

In her spare time, Kat can be found enjoying the odd night out as well as her holidays in the sun.

Sarah McDonagh

Sarah joined Stafflex in October 2015 supporting the industrial desk then moving on to become a permanent member of the commercial team in March 2016. Since graduating from the Manchester Metropolitan University, Sarah has spent time in customer facing roles and sales leading her into the recruitment industry. In her spare time Sarah likes going to watch live music and spending time with her friends and family... and talking a lot about food!

Gillian North

Gill joined Stafflex in September 2011 after a career working in the manufacturing industry. Initially employed to work as our receptionist, Gill now works in the industrial department with key account responsibilities for some major employers in the region. Gill’s responsibilities include candidate resourcing and key account management. She has a keen interest in eating out and socialising with friends and family, as well as being a big Castleford Tigers fan.

Rosie Stahelin

Rosie joined Stafflex in October 2015 to help run the Education desk. Rosie brings a wealth of experience from the education sector having taught in a number of schools throughout Kirklees. Rosie has a degree in Fine Art and a PGCE in Secondary Art and Design.

Outside of work Rosie enjoys going to music festivals, visiting art galleries and walking her dog Artemis.

Yvonne Reilly

Yvonne joined Stafflex as a Receptionist in August 2014. Following a short period in this capacity she moved into Business Support, where she is responsible for doing Payroll and operation support.

This is Yvonne’s first venture back into full time employment after 18 years taking care of her two wonderful children.

When not at work, Yvonne enjoys going out to eat and socialising and watching her son play football, who is an academy scholar at Barnsley Football Club.

Geraldine Jordan

After spending 8 years in the food industry Geraldine joined Stafflex in November 2014 on a temporary basis, becoming a permanent member at the beginning of May 2015. Working on reception, Geraldine is first point of contact with visitors/clients. In her spare time Geraldine enjoys running and swimming and spending time with her family.A


Lydia Yorke-Brown

Lydia joined Stafflex in the Autumn of 2016 after having worked for a national recruitment firm specialising in industrial, engineering, skilled and technical recruitment. She has a vast network of clients, many of whom she has been successfully placing staff for over a number of years. She joins Kat and Gillian at a time when the industrial desk is seeing significant growth and is quickly making an impact. Outside of work Lydia enjoys wine and cheese tasting and is a big Harry Potter fan!  


Emma Tordoff

Emma joined Stafflex in October 2015 on a temporary basis working on reception being first point of call for visitors/clients. Previously she worked in the hotel industry for 15 years working on reception. In her spare time she enjoys shopping (maybe too much) watching football, motor sports, cooking, socialising with friends, eating out & enjoying the occasional cocktail or two…


Becky Waring

Becky joined Stafflex in August 2016 as part of the Education Team to manage the Nursery and Primary Sector. She is actively seeking enthusiastic teachers, teaching assistants, nursery nurses and general support staff.

Before this she worked in Retail Management for over 8 years where she gained her passion for the recruitment industry.

When not at work, Becky enjoys keeping active going on bike rides and visiting the gym. As well as going to lots of music gigs and festivals. She has recently passed her BSL level 2.

She attended King James’s School  and Greenhead College along with her fellow Colleagues Poppy and Rosie.  Here she was also the school’s Sports Captain.
